Future Faire

Entomologist Shirley Luckhart, associate professor of medical microbiology and immunology at the UC Davis School of Medicine, discusses malaria with Abe Bautista of Fairfield at UC Davis Health System’s 10th annual Future Faire Wednesday night at UC Davis Medical Center. The theme was “Meeting the Challenges of New and Emerging Infectious Diseases.” Luckhart and fellow UC Davis entomologists Gregory Lanzaro and Anthony Cornel are launching a five-year federally funded project to train scientists at the University of Bamako, Mali, on strategies to combat malaria, one of the leading causes of death in that African country.
