Daylong summit focuses on senior consumer protection
A summit meeting that focuses on the issues and problems facing today’s senior consumer and highlights the services and resources available to that population will be held on Friday, May 12, at the Sacramento Convention Center.
Sponsored by the state Department of Consumer Affairs, the event is the first-ever California summit on senior consumer protection. Local, state and federal agencies, and community organizations will conduct panel presentations and interactive workshops. Registration is free and a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Among the participants and speakers at the summit will be: Secretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency, Rosario Marin; director of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Charlene Zettel; director of the Office of Emergency Services, Henry Renteria; director of the California Department of Health Services, Sandra Shwery; commissioner of the California Department of Corrections, Wayne Strumpfer; organizations of the state Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program; and district attorneys, law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, first responders, health-care providers, and state and local governments.
