UC Davis Health System recently received a “Negocios con Corazon” (Businesses with Heart) award from the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC).
The award, recognizing businesses and non-profit organizations making a positive difference in the community and helping to create a strong local economy, was announced last month at the SHCC’s 34th annual Business Awards and Recognition Banquet in Sacramento.
Claire Pomeroy, UC Davis vice chancellor for Human Health Sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, accepted the award on behalf of the system.
“UC Davis Health System is committed to continue serving the health-care needs of our community and serving as an engine for economic growth in the Sacramento region,” Pomeroy said in accepting the award.
Attending the banquet to see the bestowing of the award were Nancy Zarenda, chair of the health system’s Community Advisory Board; Shelton Duruisseau, Senior Associate Director, Hospital & Clinics, and Executive Associate Director, External Affairs; and Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, director of the Center for Reducing Healthcare Disparities.
Over the past 34 years, the SHCC has recognized outstanding businesses, business men and women, and non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the community. This year, the SHCC focused on businesses and organizations with a commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle.
