Barr appointed to editorial board of national medical coding publication
Ginger Barr, a supervisor in Health Information Management, has been appointed to the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) editorial advisory board for “Coding Clinic for HCPCS.”
“Coding Clinic for HCPCS” is a nationally recognized, quarterly publication of official standards and guidelines for ambulatory payment classifications and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System/ Current Procedural Terminology codes. The publication is headed cooperatively by the AHA, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the American Health Information Management Association (AHIM) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). Advisory board members are selected for their expertise in HCPCS coding or APC implementation for hospital use.
Another HIM employee, Juli Neal, is finishing a two-year appointment on the advisory board for her ICD-9-CM expertise.
Mary Pat Curry, manager of Health Information Management, said, “It is highly unusual for employees from the same organization to serve on these boards. This highly respected honor brings distinction and recognition to UC Davis Health System’s coding program.”
