March 31 is deadline for Housestaff Professionalism Award nominations
Three weeks remain to submit nominations for the 2006 UC Davis School of Medicine Alumni Association’s Housestaff Professionalism Award, intended to recognize and honor residents identified by their co-workers and ancillary staff for exemplifying the attributes of professionalism.
The American Board of Internal Medicine defines professionalism as one who “aspires to altruism, accountability, excellence, duty, service, honor, integrity and respect for others.”
All current UC Davis postgraduate housestaff are eligible for nomination.
Housestaff, RNs, medical students, ancillary staff (transporters, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, radiological technologists, dietitians, clerical staff and telephone operators) are encouraged to nominate residents who conduct themselves with the highest degree of professionalism.
The recipient of the award will be highlighted in UC Davis Medicine magazine, and a nominal cash award will be presented at the medical school banquet on Thursday, June 8.

The Alumni Board’s selection committee will select one resident based on the quantity and/or quality of the nomination forms. The 2004 award winner was David Deyhimy, anesthesiology.
Nominations will be accepted until March 31.
