Classes set for preparation of first phase of full EMR

Classes have been scheduled in preparation for the go-live of the first phase of the full electronic medical record in the main hospital, which requires EMR users to be trained in nursing admission assessment and flowsheets.

Employees in job classifications of nurse managers, CNIIIs, CNIIs, ANIIs, CNIs, and respiratory therapists must take formal classroom training and demonstrate competency. Staff with other job classifications will be able to take a modified version of the training online via the EMR Web site.

Admission assessment in the EMR is done by a registered nurse upon admission of a patient to the hospital. Inpatient nurses use flowsheets in the EMR for ongoing documentation. This Admission Assessment & Flowsheet Class is designed to teach how to open, enter data into, and edit Admission Assessments and Flowsheets in the EMR. Only Nurse Managers, CNIIIs, CNIIs, ANIIs, CNIs, and Respiratory Therapists should take this class.

EMR users should register as soon as possible. If there are no registrations for a class by two days before the class is given, the class will be canceled. The class schedule can be found on the EMR web site at http://intranet.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/emr/pdfs/ClinicalDocumentationClassSchedule.pdf.

To register, go to http://hs.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/registration. Users will need their health system username and password to register for classes. Those who do not have or remember their username and password should contact the Customer Support Center at (916) 734-HELP.

Staff members who have registered but cannot attend a class should send an e-mail to emr@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu to request the registration in that class be canceled, and then sign up for an alternate class. Those with questions should send them to emr@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
