Medical students to hold 2006 AMSA Annual Auction and Winetasting Benefit

The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) of the UC Davis School of Medicine will hold its 2006 Annual Auction and Winetasting Benefit on Saturday, February 25, from 6:30 to10 p.m. at the ARC Ballroom on the UC Davis campus.

Proceeds are used to support the UC Davis student-run community health clinics. These clinics provide free health care to underserved communities in the greater Sacramento area. UC Davis medical students and physicians make significant contributions to the health of these populations in the Sacramento area through their volunteer efforts at the community clinics. These clinics train students in delivering primary care services while simultaneously improving access to care in underserved communities. The programs have been recognized nationally as model partnerships between an academic medical center and the community.

Tickets are $20. The event will feature tastings from regional wineries, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a live auction at 8:30 p.m. Ticket holders will also receive a souvenir wine glass and be entered to win a number of many donated door prizes.

AMSA is a student organization that seeks to improve medical education through promoting awareness of health-care issues. The UC Davis chapter is responsible for a number of events, including the Heart Beat Run.
