Volunteers needed for annual Radiothon for Children’s Hospital, Feb. 23-25

Volunteers are needed to collect spare change to help with the annual Radiothon Sacramento that raises money on behalf of UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

Radiothon Sacramento will be broadcast this year from 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, through 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 by Entercom Radio, on stations 98 Rock, 94.7 Smooth Jazz, 96.9 The Eagle, KWOD 106.5 and 107.9 The End.

UC Davis Children’s Hospital is conducting its Coins for Kids Special Agent program, in which participants agree to collect spare change from friends, family members and colleagues in the weeks leading up to the Radiothon and to help officially kick off the event. Special agents can represent companies, departments within companies, schools, clubs and other organizations.

Volunteers who register as special agents will receive a kit that includes instructions, a change bag to collect coins, stickers and a poster that indicates the volunteer is a special agent. Special agents will be invited to the “C4K Cash Bash” on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at UC Davis Medical Center. The event will include a reception featuring snacks, music, door prizes, representatives from Entercom Sacramento radio stations, the UC Davis Police Department’s K-9 unit, the UC Davis Fire Prevention office and fingerprinting. Agents may turn in their money at the bash.

The Children’s Miracle Network, an alliance of premier hospitals for children, is a non-profit organization dedicated to funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America. UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the local affiliate that benefits from CMN funds.

The mission of the CMN at UC Davis Children’s Hospital is to improve the health and well being of children by supporting a coordinated program of patient care and research as well as the education of families, faculty physicians, nurses and other health-care workers, and the public. The CMN disburses donations in the form of grants, awards and program development funds.
