Infection Control Web site updates include avian, severe pediatric influenza

A Web page devoted to influenza, with links to avian influenza and severe pediatric influenza, is now available through the Web site for UC Davis Health System’s Department of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control.

The pediatric influenza page contains updates from the state Health Department on levels of severe pediatric influenza throughout California as well as instructions for reporting cases at UC Davis Medical Center, sending laboratory specimens, and printable forms required for submission of cases.

Other updates to the Web site include a revised map for easier navigation, continued Infection Control Bulletin updates on the “Hot Topics” page, and access to printable isolation signs on each page of the Web site. Other material on the “Hot Topics” page includes a Powerpoint presentation by Marsha Koopman, manager of Infection Control, on Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and links to influenza vaccination information statements in multiple languages.

The most recent additions to the site’s “Fact Sheets/Flyers” page are the Avian Influenza Patient and Exposed Healthcare Worker Guidelines.

Health-care workers are urged to check the Web site often for the most recent public health and infection control information. The site is at http://intranet.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/infectioncontrol/.
