Annual Red & White Ball benefits Kiwanis Family House

The Kiwanis Family House’s 14th annual Red & White Ball will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Double Tree Inn in Sacramento.

Proceeds from the formal/semi-formal dinner dance will support the Kiwanis Family House, which provides temporary housing for families with seriously ill or injured children at UC Davis Medical Center. A new, $4.3 million house is under construction on 50th Street south of the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute. It will accommodate 32 families. The current facility, at 48th and V streets, has only 13 rooms and turns away about 10 families a day due to a lack of space. Since its opening in 1984, the Kiwanis Family House has housed more than 10,000 families from around the United States and the world.

A cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. will precede dinner and dancing to the music of the John Skinner Band. The ball also will feature a silent auction.

Advance tickets cost $50 per person and are available on-line at www.kiwanisfamilyhouse.org and from Kiwanis members. Tickets will cost $60 per person at the door. Ticket information is available at (916) 729-0696.

The Double Tree Inn also is offering special room rates for the night.
