Soft-tissue sarcoma survival

New studies by cancer researcher Robert Canter have found that the location of soft-tissue sarcoma predicts its lethalness in some patients. In a study published in the Annals of Surgical Oncology, Canter and his team found that patients with small tumors located in an extremity and easily removed with surgery experienced longer survival, while about 9 percent of patients, usually those with large tumors in the abdomen, had the worst outcomes. In the second study, published in Clinical Cancer Research, Canter developed a tool that can be used to predict three- to five-year survival based on pre-operative variables of synovial sarcoma in addition to tumor size.
