UC Davis is the first health-care system in Sacramento to make a complete switch to a digital
x-ray system that makes images available immediately for online viewing. For patients, the system means
that they no longer face lengthy waits to learn the results of their X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and other
images. For doctors and other providers, the system allows them to view images on computer monitors in
clinics, operating rooms, offices and even their homes.
The system, known as PACS (picture archiving and communication system), was purchased from Stentor,
a San Francisco-based company.
