UC Davis Medical Group has implemented a special Web-based messaging system that permits
patients and doctors to essentially conduct an "office visit" online, improving both communication and
UC Davis patients are requesting online consultations, sending questions, renewing prescriptions and
scheduling appointments via "webVisit (tm)" as part of the special messaging system provided by RelayHealth
Corp., based in Emeryville, Calif. Doctors are dispensing advice, answering questions, providing patient-education
messages and sending laboratory results.
Use of RelayHealth began as a pilot program at the Folsom, Calif., clinic about a year ago. It is now
used at all the medical group offices and is being expanded to all UC Davis Medical Center's hospital-based
clinics by the end of this year.
