F. William Blaisdell, UC Davis professor of surgery and chief of surgery for the VA Northern California Health Care System, was honored with the Mark Wolcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Leadership. The award is one of the highest honors bestowed on clinicians in the Veterans Health Administration.
The prestigious award recognizes outstanding health-care practitioners for their contributions to enhance clinical care.
Blaisdell was one of the original architects of San Francisco General Hospital's trauma center early in his career. He was also instrumental in helping to establish the new VA Medical Center at the former Mather Air Force Base.
