A new pediatrics resource library has been established, made possible by donations from longtime volunteer clinical faculty member Michael M. Sugawara.
The Sugawara Pediatric Library, located in the Davis Tower, is named after the Sacramento pediatrician who worked for Kaiser Permanente for 29 years before retiring three years ago. He also has been a volunteer clinical faculty member at the medical center for 31 years, and continues to serve in that role. Sugawara has contributed more than $80,000 to an endowment fund for the purpose of purchasing textbooks, journals and other educational materials and equipment for pediatrics residents.
"For a long time, we've needed educational resources close to where we actually take care of patients, especially for residents. The library fills this need," said Daniel West, assistant professor of pediatrics and director of the pediatric residency program.
