UC DAVIS LAUNCHES PUBLIC HEALTH MASTER'S PROGRAM

The medical and veterinary schools will offer a new master's degree program in public health this fall to address the changing health needs of California communities. The program combines the strengths of both schools, including strong programs in medicine, epidemiology, preventive veterinary medicine, agricultural health, zoonoses and nutrition.

"UC Davis is exceptionally well-positioned to offer such a broad-based curriculum that includes programs in community health and occupational medicine, as well as health-care management and risk assessment in the domestic and international arena," said Marc Schenker, professor and chair of epidemiology and preventive medicine.

The master's program will initially be aimed at current medical and veterinary students and practicing professionals.
