Donald W. Brown, M.D.

Retired radiologist with subspecialty of nuclear medicine. Works presently as volunteer primary care physician. Fellow American Colleges of Physicians, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

Pierre M. Dreyfus, M.D
I came to UCD Medical School from Harvard Medical School in July of 1968 to help start UC Davis Medical School. When I came I spent a great deal of time at the Vet School where I saw patients, until the fall of 1968 when the first class started school. The beginning was challenging. I am happy to see that the school is doing well. As former chairman and professor of neurology and pediatrics, it is a pleasure to applaud success. While at Davis I particularly enjoyed being chairman of the committee of arts and lectures and chairman of the Nelson Lectureship.

Barbara Elmendorf (wife of) Thomas Elmendorf

Tom died in June of 2000. He was still practicing ER medicine at age 80. Since that time I have become a jet-setting grandmother (my name by grandkids), who traveled 100,000 miles in 2001. I love it. I will return to my duties as a volunteer hostess at the state capitol front door sometime soon. I gave it up when Tom became ill.

Robert L. Hunter, Ph.D.

Since we have an extra vacant lot behind our house at the corner of Eighth St and Plum Lane, the first several classes used this space for class gatherings. Now there are many fruit trees growing in this space, but there is still room for a gathering if the class chooses to use it. I now call this space the "Hunter Fruit Farm.".

Edward J. Hurley, M.D.

Retired as Associate Dean, School of Medicine and Associate Director, UC Davis Medical Center 1993 and returned part time until 1996. Currently serving as Consul, New Zealand.

Robert E. Stowell, M.D., Ph.D.

After required retirement in 1982, I continued to enjoy voluntary teaching medical students in pathology until 2001, when because of substantial reduction in teaching time for pathology, all volunteer teaching was eliminated to provide teaching time for regular pathology faculty.

Raymond L. Teplitz, M.D.

Since retirement and moving to Medford, OR, I have attempted to pursue activities of interest for which the responsibilities of family, research and teaching had left little time. Accordingly, with others, I have established a Poetry club, a Playreader's club, taught Poetry, lectured to various groups of physicians and laity on molecular genetics, cloning and stem cell research. This spring, I begin the second course in Poetry at the Southern Oregon University extension and in the fall, I will inaugurate the first course in BioMedical Topics. I have also served on the Advisory Board for the Schneider Museum of Art and the Chamber Music Concerts, both of the Southern Oregon University (SOU). I am on the Board of Directors of the da Vinci Playhouse, an independent, non-profit educational group, dedicated to teaching science at the pre-high school level in the Rogue valley. Presently, together with several colleagues, I have organized an art exhibit, "Art over 70" to highlight the work of elder artists. I have published a book of poems and photographs, "A view from here" in 2000 and am working on a second volume, "Tracks in the snow." This year, my wife and I celebrated our fifty-fifth year of marriage.

Joe Tupin, M.D.

1969-1993 Continued as a consultant to University. Continue to live in Davis area but moved to a condominium in El Macero this month.

Hibbard Williams, M.D.

Congratulations to the Class of 2002. Keep the passion for clinical medicine you have shown during the past four years.
