Environmental reasons for dating violence

 "" PHOTO

A new study has found that teenage boys who abuse their girlfriends face challenges such as spending their youth as members of troubled families, enduring insufficient family support when they began to fail at school, and witnessing violence in their own homes and communities. The study's senior author, Elizabeth Miller, assistant professor of pediatrics, said researchers lack an understanding of the fundamental factors that promote male violence within dating relationships – information that is critical to guiding its prevention. The study appeared online in the American Journal of Men's Health.
