Thanks to modern medicine, people are living longer than ever before. Therein lies a paradox: Greater longevity means more people suffering from wear and tear on the body. Now, health-care professionals are increasingly focused on how to manage and inhibit degenerative conditions – afflictions that don't necessarily kill people but can make their golden years difficult.
