|RESIDENT CLASS NOTES
Nothing new during the past year, unless you count becoming a trustee of Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas, a few new publications and book chapters, a couple of very minor tennis trophies, and a new grandbaby (not necessarily in that order).
I am married with two kids, living in Modesto. I'm now a retired cardiologist due to an unfortunate stroke in May 2005. I would love to hear from anyone via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. I am recovering well with the help of my wife and kids!
Ali Salim and Karin Shavelson-Salim
During our trip to Peru, organized by Rotaplast International, we spent two weeks in La Oroya, which ranks in the top 10 most heavily polluted cities in the world. Karin was one of two pediatricians on the trip and basically did all the pre- and post-op management (including rounds, clinic and recovery room!), while I had fun operating. We focused on children with congenital problems such as cleft lip and palate. Karin was so popular that she made it into the local paper!
Jeff and I recently had our second child, Josiah Paul McCormick. His sister, Merrin Laila, is thrilled and constantly covers him in kisses. We are moving back to Davis this upcoming fall (2007) and I will be joining the UC Davis Medical Center faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine. We are looking forward to being back home!
