David B. Spitler, M.D., "91

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of our classmate, David Spitler, on September 22, 2003. Dave was killed in a tractor accident on his ranch in Hopland, California.

Dave trained in Emergency Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center, and had been practicing at Sutter Solano Hospital in Vallejo, California since 1994. He was a very well liked member of its Emergency Department, and he will be greatly missed. He had recently purchased his nearly 500 acre ranch in the coastal mountains of Northern California and was working to develop it at the time of his death. Dave was very involved with horses and was a vital member of the Sonoma County Trailblazers Association. He functioned as the organization"s doctor on trail trips into the backcountry and was affectionately known as just "Doc" to the group members. A very moving memorial was held by the Trailblazers and Dave"s family on September 29th at a winery and ranch near his home in Hopland.
