The Imani Clinic is one of the student-run clinics affiliated with the UC Davis School of Medicine. The clinic was established in 1994 and is located in the Oak Park neighborhood in south Sacramento. Open every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Imani Clinic provides free health care to the uninsured, ethnically diverse (predominantly African-American and Hispanic) population of Oak Park. The clinic is staffed by undergraduates who do intake, lab work and create patient charts, and by medical students who see patients under the supervision of one to two physicians. For the past couple of months, Imani Clinic has been experiencing a severe shortage of preceptors and as a result we have had to close the clinic a number of times over the past year because we can't see patients unless a preceptor is on-site. We feel that this is a great loss to our patients, many of whom rely on Imani as their sole source of health care. The time commitment to precept at Imani is one Saturday every quarter. If you are interested in precepting at Imani, please contact Imani Clinic Co-director, Jot Sandhu (MS II) at 530-753-3775 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Without preceptors, there would be no Imani Clinic ... your help is very much needed!
