Class of 1972.
Friday June 7th, 2002. It was a magical night of warm fellowship, great memories and celebration for many of the original founding faculty and members of the first UC Davis School of Medicine Class of 1972. Mary Tupper hosted a reception at her home in El Macero for this gathering, and it was a wonderful occasion!
It was 36 years ago in February 1966 when Dr. C.J. Tupper arrived in Davis to establish the UC Davis School of Medicine. It was 34 years ago in September 1968 when instruction began. The faculty had come from all over the U.S. to share in the adventure of beginning a new medical school at Davis. The first class was privileged to have an entire faculty focus on their education and development. After four years of being together at Davis, this original group of faculty and students came to know one another well, and had the common bond of beginning together at Davis.
The Class of 1972 is grateful to Mary Tupper and to the UC Davis School of Medicine for the opportunity of that night and, of course, for the privilege of being the first class of this great institution.
