Helping children return to their main job of growing up

Helping children return to their main job of growing upWhen a child needs the best possible care, families count on UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Whether it’s a broken bone, a fever that won’t go away, or a complex surgery, UC Davis Children’s Hospital provides world-class, compassionate, family-centered care to help children heal and return to their main job of growing up.

Access to world-class facilities is integral to assuring that the children’s hospital team always provides the highest level of care to children. This is reflected in recent renovations of the Pediatric/Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Right now, relocating and expanding the Children’s Surgery Center is a top priority. Built in 1950, and refurbished in 1986, the center was created for a different time and now must keep pace with the evolution of pediatric surgical care.

Planning is underway for a state-of-the-art facility that will match UC Davis’ talented pediatric surgical team. The new facility is envisioned to provide:

  • More and larger operating rooms.
  • An advanced IT infrastructure to support smart surgical equipment.
  • Innovative, leading-edge design to enhance efficiency and improve workflow.
  • A refreshed child-friendly environment that is geared to the comfort and needs of children.

While grant funds are available to launch the capital improvement in the near future, philanthropic investments of $10 million will help complete construction, purchase equipment and cover other project costs.
