About Robin Steinhorn

Robin Steinhorn Robin Steinhorn’s academic research during the past 25 years has focused on newborn vascular biology. In her early years, she studied extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) at a time when ECMO was just emerging as innovative, heroic therapy. To better understand the specific vascular pathophysiology of persistent pulmonary hypertension, a life-threatening disease of newborn infants, Steinhorn has investigated the basic mechanisms regulating vascular tone and has applied this knowledge to better understand the normal development of perinatal pulmonary circulation, and to determine specific abnormalities that result in neonatal and pediatric pulmonary hypertension.
