Trauma surgeon Lynette Scherer is the new chief of the UC Davis Trauma Program. Scherer is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery and director of the department's Surgical Residency Program. A faculty member since 2001, Scherer received her bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles in 1989, and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston in 1993. She completed internships and a residency in surgery at UC Davis Medical Center, and a fellowship in surgery, trauma and critical care at the medical center, where she received the Outstanding Chief Resident Award.
