Frederick J. Meyers, a national leader in the hospice movement and the delivery of compassionate, end-of-life care, became the new executive associate dean at the School of Medicine on May 1. Meyers had served as chair of the Department of Internal Medicine since 1997. In his new role, Meyers oversees the research, teaching, clinical care and community engagement missions of the medical school, and closely coordinates with leadership across the health system. He also is charged with fostering basic, translational and clinical research; identifying and promoting interdisciplinary research and technological advances to explore frontiers in modern medicine; seeking new funding opportunities among industry, public funding sources and collaborative research programs; and overseeing all graduate and postdoctoral training.
