Latino palliative cancer care

The American Cancer Society has awarded renowned UC Davis palliative care expert Frederick Meyers and his colleagues a two-year grant to develop and test a Spanish-language educational program for Latino cancer patients and their caregivers. Meyers' team, which includes coinvestigators Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, Joan Blais, Elizabeth Miller and David Ramirez, will assist terminally ill patients and their families utilizing the COPE (creativity, optimism, planning and expert information) model.
