Alvin Eng
Alvin K. Eng was honored Feb. 23, at a cardiology symposium at the Gallo Center in Modesto for his outstanding work in echocardiography and his pioneer work performing transesophageal echocardiograms. Dr. Eng, referred to by his peers as "The Bobby Fischer of Echocardiography," was instrumental in bringing transesophageal echocardiograms into Modesto-area hospitals and training physicians in the procedure. Dr. Eng completed his internship and residency at UC Davis where he served as chief resident. He is a retired cardiologist who lives with his wife, Karen, and children, Justin and Katie, in Modesto.
