Photo of charging stations

Making the first left turn as you work your way up the ramps of Parking Structure 3, you come upon a row of Chevy Volts, Nissan Leafs and perhaps even a Tesla or two. Special parking for the environmentally-minded? In a way, it is, as you’ve found our 10 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. Utilizing ClipperCreek’s state-of-the-art CS-40 charging systems, our stations can have your EV charged up and back on the road in no time at all. Volts, Leafs and similar can generally be fully recharged in less than five hours; ultrasporty Teslas take a bit longer. EV charging is currently (no pun intended) free, and available on a first-come, first-charged basis.

So, Parking Structure 3 has the solar array on the top level, and EV charging stations below. Wouldn’t it be elegant if the solar array powered the charging stations?

Since this was first written, more charging stations have come to UCDH, with an upgrade to ChargePoint CT4000 units.  At the new Betty Irene Moore Hall, six charging stations can be found in the northwest corner of Lot 17, immediately south of the building.  The currently under-construction North Addition will have two ChargePoint stations in a new small lot north of the building.
