Steve R. Martinez

Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Martinez incorporates several novel techniques into his practice, including the use of the sentinel node biopsy for melanoma and breast cancer, skin-sparing mastectomy, onco-plastic lumpectomy for breast cancer, radio-guided parathyroidectomy, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, minimally invasive thyroidectomy, and PET-probe guided resection of metastatic disease.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Martinez conducts research that incorporates his prior experience in molecular oncology with his interest in health care disparities, improving cancer care outcomes, and clinical trials. In particular, Dr. Martinez is interested in combining novel imaging techniques with blood-based biomarkers to predict response to pre-operative chemotherapy in patients with cancer.
