Transplant Research Faculty Position

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit a full-time academic position at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor in the Ladder Rank series.  

The selected candidate will have a strong research background in renal pathology and/or physiology with significant expertise in one or more of the following areas: renal injury and repair, including ischemia-reperfusion injury; basic or translational science related to kidney transplantation; regenerative medicine and/or stem-cell based therapies; biomarker discovery and validation (genomic, proteomic, and/or metabolomics) and human cellular immunology. 

The candidate must have a proven track record of obtaining extramural grant support, including authoring and co-authoring grant submissions to the NIH and other extramural funding organizations. The candidate will have the ability to lead a research team and to work collaboratively with clinical faculty and other researchers at UC Davis to develop basic and translational research projects related to acute kidney injury and transplantation.

Requirements for the position include a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field.  The candidate will be required to participate in research, teaching and university service.  MDs that meet all of the aforementioned requirements will also be considered for the position with the understanding that for an MD this would primarily be a research appointment devoted to laboratory investigation.  Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.
