Academic Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgeon

The School of Medicine, Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Health System in Sacramento, California seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Surgeon specializing in Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank in the Clinical X, Health Science Clinical Professor or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications. Selected individuals will have completed a surgical oncology fellowship or hepatobiliary surgery fellowship and will join a practice in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the NCI-accredited UCD Cancer Center. The emphasis of this recruitment is for a "Hepatobiliary Specialist" though the opportunity will be provided to develop a disease-specific focus including surgery of the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas, or other areas of surgical oncology.

Qualified candidates should have an excellent academic background as demonstrated by 3-5 years of experience in an academic institution; must have an MD degree, be Board Certified in general surgery, and will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series.  The candidate must have a long-term goal of establishing a multi-disciplinary cancer practice, as well as providing expertise in benign hepatobiliary pancreatic disease. Selected individuals will have completed a surgical oncology fellowship or hepatobiliary surgery fellowship from an approved and accredited ACGME program. All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Hepatobiliary Surgery experience
  • Surgical Oncology experience
  • Research experience
