Endowed Chair in Trauma Prevention & Outcomes

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to fill the newly established Lloyd F. and Rosemargaret Donant Chair in Trauma Medicine and Trauma Research and develop a program in trauma prevention and outcomes.  The successful candidate must have a record of interest in trauma prevention and/or outcomes.  The candidate must also have a proven record of extramural funding or the obvious potential to attract same.  He/she must also have the interpersonal and organization skills necessary to spearhead the development of and recruitment of additional faculty and a multidisciplinary research program.  Candidates must have either a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or M.D. degree.  Candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in areas related to public health will be given special consideration. Limited clinical opportunities are available for candidates with M.D. degrees but such activity is not required and the overwhelming emphasis of the Chair will be in the research realm.

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine already has established programs in outcomes and health systems research: The Centers for Health Policy Research, an Outcomes in Vascular Health and Health Disparities and Fairness in Health Care.

The University of California, Davis, Medical Center, one of the nation’s “Top 100 Hospitals,” is a 576 bed academic medical center that serves as a level I trauma center.  The hospital admits approximately 3500 trauma patients per year and has an established trauma registry containing over fifty thousand patient records.
