Academic Burn Surgeon
with special focus on Burn Reconstructive Surgery

The Department of Surgery, Division of Burn Surgery, at the University of California, Davis seeks to recruit a full-time, academic burn surgeon, with a special focus on burn reconstructive surgery.  Applicant must be a graduate of an ACGME accredited burn surgery residency.  The academic title will be at the assistant professor rank within the Health Sciences or Clinical X series depending on qualifications.

The candidate should have a strong interest and expertise in burn and burn reconstructive surgery, burn rehabilitation, microsurgical techniques, hand reconstruction, acute wound coverage, scar management, nutrition and metabolic management.  Dependent on the chosen academic series, the individual will be expected to develop a research focus in burn reconstructive surgery, or equivalent academic endeavor.

The candidate must have a M.D. degree, have completed a burn surgery residency and fellowship program; must be board certified or board eligible in general surgery or plastic surgery; and have a current California Medical License by the appointment start date. The selected individual will be expected to participate in clinical care, program development, teaching, research, and university service. This individual will have experience with developing a research focus in Health Services / Outcomes Research, Clinical Research, Translational Research or equivalent academic endeavor.  The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate ideally will have demonstrated clinical teaching and basic science research skills, with potential to write grants and build strong local and international community relationships.

We provide comprehensive services for the medical, surgical, and reconstructive treatment of patients with burn injuries and burn related diseases.  The Division of Burn Surgery educates trainees as part of its integrated burn residency and fellowship programs.
