Distribution Department

The following gives supply chain customers information on the functions and scope of activities performed by the department in providing patient care related supplies within the hospital and hospital-based clinic environments.

Introduction

The following information is a guide for hospital and hospital-based clinic staff members who need to obtain centrally managed patient care supply support. The department can assist your needs in the delivery of medical/surgical supplies, patient care equipment, on-demand bottled oxygen, bulk supplies of liquid nitrogen and oxygen, and patient care linen and surgical scrub uniforms.

General information

Distribution never closes. It is available to meet your support needs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Medical/surgical supplies are provided to in-patient and some hospital-based outpatient clinics from an in-house supply room containing more than 1,600 line items, the daily rotation and replenishment of exchange carts, and the week day replenishment of static and par carts. Patient care equipment items include, but are not limited to beds, wound-vacs, sequential compression devices, hyper/hypothermia machines and isolation carts. Other support services include the delivery of on-demand bottled oxygen, the monitoring and replenishment of bulk supplies of liquid nitrogen and oxygen, and the delivery of patient care linen and surgical scrub uniforms to authorized departments.
