UC Davis Health System is shaping the future of science, medicine and health to create a healthier world through bold innovation. In 2011-2012, UC Davis Health System continued its momentum of outstanding growth with significant milestones. Highlights include UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center attaining the National Cancer Institute's comprehensive status, significant funding from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine for stem cell science, and the inaugural master's class of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. This progress has set our academic health center on a path of success well into the future.
The 2020 Initiative: A Path to Academic Excellence and Economic Opportunity
The UC Davis 2020 Initiative was initiated by Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi with input from campus constituents to discuss how to sustain and enhance academic excellence and economic opportunity at UC Davis. The UC Davis Health System Strategic Plan crosswalks many of its strategies with the vision of the 2020 Initiative and the Chancellor's Vision of Excellence, ensuring progress towards success.
Framework for Diversity
The Framework for Diversity is a comprehensive plan for integrating diversity, inclusion and community engagement at UC Davis Health System. Following the creation of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, this Framework, published in 2011, aims to achieve diversity through excellence in people and campus climate.
Community Benefit Report
The 2011-2012 Community Benefit Report focuses on how the UC Davis Health System is meeting the needs of the Sacramento community and beyond. Diverse in expertise and united in purpose, more than 10,000 UC Davis faculty, staff and students collaborate daily to solve urgent global-health problems, translate research into new cures and eliminate health disparities. Meanwhile, the health system is a major driver of economic prosperity in the Sacramento region and Northern California, generating more than $3.4 billion in annual economic output and more than 20,000 jobs.
2012 Strategic Plan Town Hall and Webcast
On September 27, Strategic Planning Steering Committee Chair Frederick Meyers and other health system leaders gathered for a Town Hall and Webcast to share achievements in implementing the strategic plan's eight goals. A question-and-answer session with senior leadership followed. Employees were encouraged to attend via webcast, the health system's first utilization of webcast technology which allowed employees to view and interact from their workstations.

Strategic Plan 2004
Great strides have been taken at UC Davis Health System since the creation of the 2004 Strategic Plan (PDF). Since 2004, the Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion has been constructed, we received one of the first CTSA awards, and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing was established. The 2004 Strategic Plan launched the health system into its next stage of development and expansion.
