Rehabilitation

The UC Davis Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine's physical therapy clinic offer care to patients with a wide array of injuries to the Musculoskeletal system. Whether affiliated with a professional sports team or just a weekend warrior, our staff is expertly trained in rehabilitation to return to pre-injury level or above wherever possible.

Our physicians have worked with a wide array of professional, collegiate, amateur elite and other competitive athletes. Injuries treated include those due to overuse (carpal tunnel syndrome, patellofemoral syndrome, lateral epicondylitis) or one-time trauma (anterior cruciate ligament tears, rotator cuff tears, ankle sprains).

UC Davis' physiatrists have spent years learning physical and occupational therapy as it relates to sports injury and the biomechanics of recovery. They work closely with therapists both locally and nationally to obtain an optimal outcome. When rehabilitation alone does not result in an acceptable recovery, they are also familiar with the latest surgical techniques and can seamlessly make referrals to appropriate surgical specialists when appropriate.
