Clinical/Research InterestsAs director of the Clinical and Translational Science Center, Dr. Berglund sets goals and standards, encourages clinical investigators to utilize the CTSC, and fosters collaborations between clinical and basic investigators. The CTSC was established in late 2006 with a $24.8 million National Institutes of Health grant to transform how investigators conduct groundbreaking research so that scientific advances reach patients everywhere more quickly. As a researcher, Dr. Berglund is a respected expert in both the national and international lipid research community. His expertise lies in: cardiovascular risk factors; human metabolic studies; and the coordination of translational research for large-scale epidemiological and genetic studies. |
