Richard (Rich) L. Kravitz, M.D.

Philosophy of CareI chose internal medicine because it allows me to combine my interests in science and people. I like to maintain a patient-centered approach, while at the same time practicing evidence-based medicine. I try to think through what I do medically and explain my thinking to my patients. Patient and physician need to work together and fashion a program of care that fits the individual. The better the communication between doctor and patient, the more likely that will happen. Concerning good health, it turns out that our mothers were right after all--we should all get plenty of exercise, eat our vegetables, avoid too much tobacco and alcohol, and take life a little easier. UC Davis has an excellent staff. Not only is the Medical Center a source of new biomedical knowledge, but also, quality of care is assured by the constant cross-checking that occurs in a teaching institution. |
