Clinical/Research Interests

Richard J. Maddock is an expert in the pathophysiology of anxiety and mood disorders. Maddock is investigating use of functional MRI to reveal regions of the brain engaged in normal/pathological emotional responses triggered by certain words or images. He is also studying the impact of psychopharmacological agents on emotion and cognition, potential links between posttraumatic stress disorder and memory impairment, and effects of panic disorder on respiration and glycolytic metabolism.
