March 1, 2014
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) provides $1500 Scholars in Training (SIT) travel awards for individuals to attend their annual meeting held in San Diego in April, 2014. The meetings' theme is "“Harnessing Breakthroughs, Targeting Cures.” Aris Alexandrou's poster presentation is titled, "The role of Period2 for radioprotection against ionizing radiation in mice bone marrow, which reflects the rapid changes being made in cancer research, and how bench to bedside is translating theories into therapeutic opportunities for improved treatments that are targeted and more precise than in the past. SIT awards and conferences such as the one conducted by the AACR is a wonderful opportunity for young investigators like Mr. Alexandrou, who is a PhD candidate and works in Dr. Jian-Jian Li's research lab.
