John M. Boone

Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Boone is a medical physicist specializing in computed tomography and breast imaging research. With colleagues, he has developed a breast CT scanner for earlier breast cancer detection, and this was the first breast CT scanner involved in patient clinical trials since the 1970s. In addition, Dr. Boone is active in the development of image-quality assessment and radiation-dose computation techniques for computed tomography and other x-ray procedures. His laboratory has developed both projection imaging and CT hardware for small-animal imaging research. Dr. Boone also is involved in developing image-based quantitative metrics for tumor-response assessment.
