Philosophy of Care

Dr. McVicar is a very experienced transplant surgeon, active in the field since 1990. He brings a compassionate, patient focused approach to his specialty, and his attention to detail results in outstanding patient outcomes. His current clinical practice includes kidney and pancreas transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, and dialysis access surgery.

Clinical Interests

John P. McVicar has extensive training as a liver transplant surgeon. He has performed more than 400 solid organ operations, including kidney and kidney-pancreas transplantation. He also performs dialysis access procedures. McVicar's research focuses on immunosuppressive therapy, prevention of infections, management of patients with hepatitis C, and treatment of postoperative biliary problems.
