Philosophy of Care

I believe in providing patient/family centered care for those with complex medical needs caused by neuromuscular disease. I work with expert allied professionals in a team-based multidisciplinary clinic to provide the highest quality care. Our goal is to offer interventions that maximize independence, improve quality of life, and treat the underlying disease process to prolong life.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Joyce is a physiatrist who is fellowship-trained in neuromuscular medicine and electrodiagnosis. She has special clinical interest and expertise in treating patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and hereditary muscular dystrophies.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Joyce's research focuses on the translation of disease-modifying therapeutics targeting the rare disease neuromuscular patient population. She participates in large international and national research groups studying these diseases; defining natural history and developing outcome measures in order quantify change with clinical trial interventions.
