Philosophy of Care
Understanding the tremendous privilege it is to be able to provide plastic and reconstructive surgeries to my patients, I strive to provide all with compassionate and high-quality care.
By listening to my patients, I seek to understand their goals and desires, as well as to foster a trusting partnership that allows us to develop and successfully carry out an individualized and personalized plan that ultimately best meets their needs and expectations.
Being in an academic practice, I value teaching and the education of my patients as an integral part of informed decision making. I pride myself in taking the time to ensure questions and concerns are all addressed prior to proceeding with surgery, another way I endeavor to build a strong doctor-patient relationship.
Dr. Wong is a board certified plastic surgeon offering general plastic and reconstructive services to men, women, and children with aesthetic concerns or reconstructive needs resulting from trauma, cancer, and weight loss.
He has special interest in the unique challenges presented by patients who have had significant weight loss and serves as Director of Body Contouring After Weight Loss.
Dr. Wong’s research focuses on two areas, that of improving patient outcomes and quality of life through decreasing complications in high-risk surgical patients, improving postoperative pain as well as offering traditional excisional and more contemporary tissue preservation techniques for post-bariatric body contouring.
He has been and continues to be Principal Investigator on several prospective randomized clinical trials investigating interventions designed to improve patient outcomes and quality of life, including sternal plating and negative pressure therapy in high-risk patients.
Being interested in improving patient access, Dr. Wong also works closely with UCD Transplant Surgeons performing panniculectomies in End-Stage Renal Disease patients, converting previously denied patients into patients eligible for kidney transplantation.
