Philosophy of Care

Dr. Baik believes that above all, patients should be empowered with information about their medical conditions and that treatment plans should be the product of a collaborative partnership between the patient and physician.  She enjoys the process of teaching patients and family members about the complexities of glaucoma and other eye disease, and also welcomes discussions about innovations in medical and surgical management.  What Dr. Baik most values is the opportunity to develop lifelong relationships with patients and their families.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Baik returned to join the faculty after having completed her clinical fellowship in glaucoma at UC Davis.  She believes that the commitment to excellence and the dedication to providing cutting-edge care make the UC Davis Eye Center an ideal place to practice medicine.  She holds a joint appointment at UC Davis and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Sacramento.  Her clinical interests focus primarily on providing patient-centered care, patient education, and the advancement of surgical care of glaucoma patients.

Dr. Baik also values the education of the next generation of physicians.  She is extremely active in the education of ophthalmology residents and fellows and is also committed to raising the quality of training of physicians of all specialties, having served as a clinical instructor to family medicine residents at UC Davis.  Dr. Baik is the director of the medical student clinical rotation at UC Davis.
