Philosophy of Care

Dr. Chang strives to develop a collaborative relationship with her patients, so that they can actively participate in their own care.  She believes that patient education is essential to developing and implementing a successful treatment plan.

Her goal is to understand how each patient is individually impacted by his/her ophthalmic disorder, so that she can help patients return to the activities most important to their quality of life.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Chang is a dual fellowship trained pediatric and neuro-ophthalmologist. She provides medical and surgical care to children and adults with neurologic disorders that affect the eyes (especially the optic nerves) or cause double vision.

These disorders include, but are not limited to: brain tumors, stroke, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, temporal arteritis, optic neuritis, optic neuropathies, and strabismus.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Chang’s research focuses on the application of novel ophthalmic technologies, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography, to neuro-ophthalmic disorders.  She explores the potential use of these instruments as a biomarker for neurologic conditions that have ocular manifestations.  She is also interested in new methods and outcomes of strabismus surgery (surgery for eye misalignment).
