Philosophy of Care
Dr. Afify's philosophy is that patient care comes first under all circumstances, and never to delay any work.
Dr. Afify's subspecialty is cytopathology, including fine-needle aspiration cytology, body fluids and Pap tests. He is a recognized expert in performing and evaluating fine-needle aspiration biopsies. Other areas of expertise include gynecologic and endocrine pathology.
Dr. Afify has research interests in hyaluronan and its receptor, CD44. He is researching the role of CD44 on cancer, including its effects on cell migration, invasion and proliferation. Recently, his lab is developing immunoliposomes that will target specific cancer cells.
