Steven Douglas Colquhoun

Philosophy of Care

My goal is to provide the care and advice that I would want for myself or my family. I pride myself on considering all options for the treatment of any condition, not just those that are surgical.

I also pride myself on listening to patients and their families.  Having any medical problem is difficult, navigating health care should not add to that problem.  I also try always to be available for questions as often times they arise between visits.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Colquhoun is a surgeon specializing in liver transplantation, liver, biliary and pancreatic surgery.  He completed fellowship training in both transplantation and surgical oncology at UCLA.  He is board certified in both surgery and critical care.

Dr. Colquhoun was the director of the Liver Transplant and Pancreaticobiliary Surgery Program at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles for 20 years. He also was director of transplantation at the University of Southern California.  He started the Liver Transplant Program at UC Davis several years ago and returns now to restart this critically needed service.

His clinical and research interests involve both primary and metastatic liver tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, colorectal maligancies and neuroendocrine tumors. He has extensive experience in pancreatic malignancies as well.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Colquhoun is involved in clinical and translational research aimed at improving both the diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma as well as other primary and metastatic liver tumors, such as colorectal cancer and neuroendocrine tumors.
